2 popular Indians who recently signed up for a County club but could not play for them

Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid are some of the popular Indian cricketers who have played County Cricket. However, with an extra format to play for the current generation, the number of Indians in the County has reduced. Nevertheless, the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and R Ashwin have played in the league. There were a few other popular Indian cricketers who were set to play in the tournament. However, they were ruled out due to various reasons. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two popular Indians who recently signed up for a County club but could not play for them.

1) Shreyas Iyer – Lancashire

A few years ago, Shreyas Iyer had signed up for a stint with the Lancashire Team. He was coming back from an injury. Hence, it was decided that Shreyas would not play in the tournament.

Actually, that stint would have helped Shreyas. There has been criticism about his skills to play the moving ball and also the bouncers. It would have been a firm test for him and he could have also worked on his game. However, that did not happen.

2) Virat Kohli – Surrey

Virat Kohli is one of the popular Indians who recently signed up for a County club but could not play for them. The biggest face of the game was set to enter the County Championship. It was more about Virat’s desire to gain experience and help him improve further.

However, a neck injury kept him out of the stint. It would have been a massive boost to the club and the tournament. It could have attracted further stars if Virat had played. Nevertheless, Virat now often stays in the UK and he might get a chance to play in the County in the next few years.
