2 players you might not know once played for Mumbai Indians and are now doing well in IPL 2023

When it comes to talent management, Mumbai Indians are one of the best in the business. They often ensure that talented cricketers come through their scouting setup. However, the auction dynamics are such that teams cannot retain all of their talents. A few former MI players are now in good form. On that note, here, we take a look at two players you might not know once played for Mumbai Indians and are now doing well in IPL 2023.

1) Axar Patel – Delhi Capitals

Axar Patel is in hot form right now. The all-rounder from Gujarat was part of the Mumbai Indians team that won the trophy in IPL 2013. However, he did not get too many chances to show his skills.

At the moment, though, Axar happens to be the most important player for Delhi Capitals. Although he is yet to bowl to his potential, he is compensating for it with extraordinary returns with the bat. Axar’s rise as a batter has been phenomenal in recent months and in IPL, it is his best season, as yet. At this rate, he might even displace Ravindra Jadeja in the Indian T20I setup.

2) Nicholas Pooran – Lucknow Super Giants

Pooran is one of the players you might not know who once played for Mumbai Indians and is now doing well in IPL 2023. The West Indian opener has finally got going in IPL and this time, it is at LSG, a franchise that hired him for INR 16 Cr.

Especially against RCB, Pooran was in top form as he took the game back from the clutches of RCB. The West Indian appeared to be in his trademark form, scoring against most types of bowlers. If Pooran can continue this, LSG would become a stronger unit than they are now. Not many know that Pooran actually represented Mumbai Indians back in 2017. He also won a trophy in that season.
