2 players whom Gujarat Titans might release before next IPL

After winning the IPL title in their very first attempt last season, Gujarat Titans again finished at the top of the IPL table this season with 10 wins in 14 games

Gujarat Titans are not only the current reigning champions of IPL, they have proven to be the best team in the league phase of IPL 2023 as well. The Titans won 10 out of their 14 league games to finish at the top of the table this IPL, while the team which finished second in the table won 8.

Gujarat, however, lost the qualifier 1 to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and they are now in a must win situation against Mumbai Indians tonight in qualifier 2, but whatever be the results of the playoffs, Gujarat Titans would already have one eye on their squad composition for next season as well.

Here are the 2 players whom Gujarat Titans might release before next IPL –

Yash Dayal

Yash Dayal was very impressive in his first season for Gujarat Titans, as not only did he swing the new ball, he also seemed to have enough change-ups to be a good death bowler. This season, however, has not gone the way Yash Dayal would have wanted it to be from a personal point of view.

Dayal bowled that dreaded over to Rinku Singh in one of the games where Rinku hit 5 sixes in the last over to win the game for KKR and then he suffered health issues for a couple of weeks. Even after his comeback, Dayal has looked largely off colour and Gujarat Titans might move on from him next season.

Dasun Shanaka

There were a lot of people who were asking why Dasun Shanaka never gets an opportunity in the IPL despite doing extremely well in the international T20 circuit. This season, Shanaka got his opportunity at Gujarat Titans and was slotted in top 5 by the Gujarat management so that he could showcase his talent with the bat.

But, Shanaka hasn’t really played an innings of substance in the three games that he has played so far. Unless and until the Sri Lankan captain does something remarkable in qualifier 2, he might lose his place in the Gujarat Titans squad next season.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
