2 players who might shockingly miss the England squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup

England will be one of the favourites to win the upcoming World Cup. The defending champions, despite the retirement of Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes, are still a strong unit. Also, having played a lot of IPL cricket, a number of these cricketers will not need much time to adapt to the conditions. That said, there are expected to be some surprises before the event. On that note, here, we take a look at the names of two players who might shockingly miss the England squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

1) Jofra Archer

As per reports, Jofra Archer is set to be fit by the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, it would be a major surprise if England includes him in the team. Yes, he is an impact player but without much game time and a fragile body, it would be a major risk to have Archer in the squad.

England anyways has a good pace unit comprising the likes of Mark Wood, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes. There might be an inclination to have a fitter pacer in the setup as a backup. Therefore, even if he is available, Jofra might miss the tournament.

2) Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone is one of the players who might shockingly miss the England squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup. It has been more than a year now that Livingstone has played an ODI game. That said, he would still be the best option for England at No.6. However, it may not be a surprise to see him miss out on the final squad.

England will need to have an extra spinner in the squad apart from Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali. It is necessary in India. On the other hand, someone like Harry Brook might be needed more in the middle order. Therefore, England could have to sacrifice the hard-hitter for the big event.
