2 players who could replace Josh Hazlewood in RCB’s lineup for their opening game against Mumbai Indians

IPL 2023 will kick start from 31st March and RCB will begin their campaign on 2nd April against Mumbai Indians.

The injury woes ahead of the IPL 2023 have come to haunt Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as well. They will be without the services of Will Jacks in the league as the English batter suffered a muscle injury and was replaced by Michael Bracewell. Just when things looked settled for them they have dealt another blow as ace pace Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the first few games. Cricket Australia has confirmed that the pacer is yet to recover from the injury and will miss the first few games.

2 players who could Josh Hazlewood in RCB’s lineup for their opening game against Mumbai Indians

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will open their campaign against Mumbai Indians on 2nd April in Chinnaswamy Stadium. They will be without the services of  Josh Hazlewood which in turn could prove out to be costly for them. In this piece, we will take a look at 2 players who could him in RCB’s lineup for their opening game against Mumbai Indians.

David Willey

English all-rounder David Willey can be the perfect replacement for Josh Hazlewood in RCB’s opening encounter against Mumbai Indians. Willey played a decent role for the team last year in the absence of the Australian pacer for the first few games. His left-arm angle could come in handy for the team, especially against the Mumbai batters, who seem to struggle against the left-arm pacers. Also, Willey’s ability to swing the ball early could help the side strike some early blows. The all-rounder could be handy with the bat down the order as well and could hit some lusty blows as well. He has played just 7 games in the tournament and is likely to be the starter in the RCB’s XI for the first game.

Avinash Singh

Hardly anyone knows about Avinash Singh. The pacer was brought in by the RCB in the auction for INR 60 lakhs. Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, the bowler comes with the reputation of clicking 150+ kmph deliveries. RCB can look to unleash him straightway in the first game. With Chinnaswamy’s wicket offering good pace, the right-arm fast bowler could come in handy for the team and could fill the void left by Josh Hazlewood. The bowler hasn’t played much professional cricket and therefore could create doubts in the minds of batters.
