2 players who could be dropped to give more games to Ajinkya Rahane in the CSK playing XI

Ajinkya Rahane scored 61 runs from 27 balls to help CSK win the game against Mumbai Indians. Rahane got a chance in the first place because of the absence of Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes. In this form, it would be hard to drop Rahane for the next games. Hence, someone else in the line-up will have to give way for the Indian veteran. On that note, here, we take a look at two players who could be dropped to give more games to Ajinkya Rahane in the CSK playing XI.

1) Devon Conway

The Kiwi opener has shown glimpses of form but is yet to make a statement performance. Yes, it has just been three games, till now, but it is now very difficult to leave out Rahane. For Rahane, the best possible batting slot as an opener. Against Mumbai, Conway lost his wicket in the first over. Rahane came out to bat early and he had almost five overs of the powerplay to execute his plans.

Therefore, it is likely that Conway will have to make way for Rahane. This way, CSK would also get an opportunity to have a foreign pacer in the playing XI. This would help balance the pace bowling unit, which has been inconsistent at times.

2) Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu is one of the players who could be dropped to give more games to Ajinkya Rahane in the CSK playing XI. Rayudu has been CSK’s impact player, so far. He has been successful in producing a few cameos but not a big inning.

Rayudu’s requirement in playing XI depends on the game situation. Since he has also not been in great form, he could have to sacrifice his spot for Rahane. Yes, the No.5 role will be vacant but MS Dhoni might ask someone like Ben Stokes or Ravindra Jadeja to take up this role.
