2 players RCB must have released before IPL 2023 but are still in IPL 2024 squad

When it comes to releasing talented cricketers and backing the wrong ones, RCB has had some unwanted records. In the past, they released some fine cricketers who are doing well even now for other outfits. On the other, while it is good that they back some cricketers, they may not be picking the right players to do that. For instance, some players must have ideally been released before IPL 2023 but are still in the current squad. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players RCB must have released before IPL 2023 but are still in IPL 2024 squad.

1) Anuj Rawat

Known for his six-hitting, Anuj Rawat was one of the expensive buys for RCB at IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. He got one fifty in IPL 2022 and later just could not deliver for the franchise. It was also around this time that he completely lost form at the domestic level. He was even dropped from the Delhi squad.

Especially with his price tag, he should have been released. Since he was not in good form, not many other teams might have been interested in him and hence, RCB could have hired him for a cheaper price. Yet, the player is still in the squad, and so far, barring one or two displays, he has been extremely terrible.

2) Karn Sharma

Karn Sharma is one of the players RCB must have released before IPL 2023 but are still in IPL 2024 squad. Considering Wanindu Hasaranga is a foreigner and is injury-prone, RCB must have planned for his backup long ago. However, they picked Karn Sharma in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions and chose to back him. That said, that decision is yet to pay off for the management.

Karn is also not in great form at the domestic level. Considering these factors, RCB must have invested in someone younger such as Chintal Gandhi. However, Karn Sharma is still in the franchise and this is despite the team having released Wanindu Hasaranga. This is one area that RCB must do better in the upcoming seasons.
