Predicting Australia’s bowling combination for Ashes 2023

The Ashes will start on June 16th this year. All eyes will be on this tournament because, unlike the recent editions when one team was not in great form, this time around, both the squads are in good touch. The bowling units of each side will be under pressure. Hence, the team management will have to ensure that the best combination takes the field. On that note,  here, we predict Australia’s bowling combination for Ashes 2023.

Australia’s bowling combination for Ashes 2023

For the last few years, the bowling unit of Australia has been terrific. They will have the same core operate for them again in Ashes 2023. While Pat Cummins will lead this squad, Mitchell Starc will be a key member of this attack. If he is on a song, Jos Hazlewood will be tough to start. For this attack, there is the backup of Scott Boland. In the spin department, Nathan Lyon will play all the matches. Todd Murphy will be his backup. Australia also has the services of Cameron Green, who will be the main all-rounder for this team. Mitchell Marsh is also available but he is not likely to bowl much.

The famous trio must avoid injury setbacks

Injuries have troubled the trio of Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood in recent times. However, the upcoming trip to England could be a defining moment in their careers and hence, they have to ensure that they are available at their peak fitness.

For Australia, even missing one of these players will be a big loss. Each individual adds balance to the bowling setup and has specific roles in various stages of an inning. Also, Cummins and Starc add value with the bat, which is extremely necessary in such big tournaments.
