2 options LSG could have considered for Head Coach instead of Justin Langer

Confirming the recent reports, Lucknow Super Giants confirmed the departure of Andy Flower as the Head Coach of the side. It was surprising because Flower is a top T20 coach and LSG had anyways done well under him. Meanwhile, LSG announced that Justin Langer will replace the former Zimbabwe man. However, it needs to be noted that Langer is a coach who might need decisions to go his way. This may not help the team at times, especially in a short tournament like the IPL. On that note, here, we take a look at two options LSG could have considered for Head Coach instead of Justin Langer.

1) Gautam Gambhir

The logical option would have been to promote Gautam Gambhir to the role of Head Coach. He is an experienced name in IPL with tactics and strategy. Having won two IPLs as a skipper, his inputs, which were anyways available for LSG, would have been further useful as a Head Coach.

Now, having Justin Langer and Gambhir on the same team might cause a few problems. Both these personalities are strong characters and it may not be a surprise if there are a few conflicts. Hence, having Gambhir as the Head Coach would have been a good choice.

2) Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan is one of the options LSG could have considered for Head Coach instead of Justin Langer. Yes, he is yet to make the foray but as per reports, Morgan is looking at a future in a coaching role.

He is a master tactician and his brains helped revolutionalize English cricket. The team won the ODI World Cup in 2019 and are strong favourites in 2023, as well. Therefore, LSG would have had a chance to start afresh if they were losing Andy Flower. Therefore, the former English skipper is on this list of candidates for LSG.
