Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will miss the first game due to family reasons. Therefore the team will not lose a leader but a quality opener as well. As the first game is just a few hours away from now, let’s take a look at 2 Opening Combination India might try in the first ODI against Australia in Mumbai
Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan
The ideal opening combination for India for the first game against Australia would be Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan. The youngsters have been in terrific form in white-ball cricket and have been scoring truckloads of runs. While the left-hander smashes a double-century against Bangladesh, Gill achieved the feat against New Zealand and followed it up with a ton as well. Both of them being the attacking batters can help India have a fiery start and post a good total on the board.

Shubman Gill and KL Rahul
Another combination that India might try is that they can promote KL Rahul up the order and make him open alongside Shubman Gill. While Gill almost has sealed the opening spot, Rahul could well make his case strong at the top once again. The batter has been batting in the middle order for India in ODIs and also has been keeping as well. In the absence of Rohit, the team might look to push someone experienced at the top.
