India and New Zealand are all set to lock horns with each other in the white-ball series. After the conclusion of the series, which will be played from 18th January to 24th January, both the teams will lock horns in the T20I series, which is slated to take place from 27th January to 1st February.
2 Indian players unlucky to miss the T20I squad for the series against New Zealand
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday (13th January) announced the 16-member squad for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. The senior player was yet again rested with Hardik Pandya in charge. Let’s take a look at 2 Indian players unlucky to miss the T20I squad for the series against New Zealand.
Ravi Bishnoi
One of the unluckiest players to miss out on the Indian squad for the T20I series against New Zealand is Ravi Bishnoi. The leg-spinner has performed exceptionally well in the limited opportunities he got. He did a terrific job in the Asia Cup but despite being a good performer and was dropped from the Indian T20I team. He was named as a reserve in the T20 World Cup squad and didn’t get the opportunity in the New Zealand series. With the young squad being there, it was almost certain that Bishnoi will be a regular feature in the team. But this wasn’t the case as Yuzvendra Chahal has been preferred over him despite not giving good performances. He was not even named in the Sri Lankan squad. In 10 games so far, the Himachal Pradesh spinner has picked 16 wickets at an economy of just over 7.
Harshal Patel
Another unlucky Indian player to miss the T20I squad for the series against New Zealand is Harshal Patel. The right-arm pacer has been on the sidelines since the T20 World Cup 2022 and didn’t get the desired changes. He played one game against Sri Lanka in the first T20I. But he didn’t perform well in the game. It was expected that he would retain his place for the New Zealand series. But just after one bad game, he was dropped. In the 25 games, he has picked 29 wickets.
