While India may not be touted as the factory of producing high-quality bowlers, they from time to time have seen stalwarts handling the bowling department and taking the team to great heights. The likes of Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Kapil Dev, R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and many others are among the greatest to have touched the cricket ball. It’s fair to say that they have been instrumental in India’s success with the ball and it is because of them the team has got accolades in the bowling department.
2 Indian bowlers who have taken more than 100 Wickets against Australia
The battle between India and Australia has always been mouth-watering. It’s fair to say that whenever these two teams have faced in Tests, there has been competition between bat and ball. It’s fair to say that the Indian bowler has had a huge success against Australia. As both the cricketing heavyweights are currently playing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, let’s take a look at 2 Indian bowlers who have taken more than 100 Wickets against Australia:
Anil Kumble – 111
Anil Kumble is the best spinner that India has produced. The owner of 619 Test wickets during his playing time gave sleepless nights to opposition batters and outfoxed them with his spin. He is one Indian bowler with more than 100 wickets against Australia. He is the leading wicket-taker in Border Gavaskar Trophy. The leg-spinner has been one of the best bowlers to have graced the game of cricket. He has picked 111 wickets in the 20 matches with an average of 30.32 to go with 10 five-wicket hauls and 2 ten-wicket hauls against Australia.
Steven Smith has been dismissed for a score of 1 or less 14 times in Test matches. 11 bowlers have done it once each. R Ashwin has done it thrice.

R Ashwin – 100
R Ashwin arguably has been one of the best spinners India has ever produced. He is only the second Indian bowler who has taken 100 wickets against Australia. He achieved the feat in the ongoing Delhi Test against Australia. Ashwin kick-started the series on high as he bagged a five-wicket haul in the first game. He currently has 100 wickets from 20 games against Australia to go with an average of 29.39. He also has taken 6 five-wicket hauls against them. Over the years the ace off-spinner has been the mainstay of the Indian bowling line-up in the longest format of the game. Time and time again he has proved his mettle. The premier off-spinners tally of more than 460 Test wickets in just 90 matches depicts the kind of impact he has in Test cricket. He is currently the second-highest wicket-taker for India in the longest format of the game.
This has been a challenging painting but I’m pleased to finish it today, when @ashwinravi99 has already taken two superb wickets.
I don’t suppose it’s realistic to expect him to see it, but it would be lovely if he does at some stage, so any retweets very gratefully received. pic.twitter.com/ruotUcPHN8
