Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians share the biggest rivalry in the Indian Premier League. That said, a lot of players from each side have played at both franchises. The latest instalment of this rivalry will be on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium. Here, we take a look at two former CSK players who might play for Mumbai Indians against CSK.
1) Piyush Chawla
For IPL 2020, CSK signed Piyush Chawla for INR 6.75 Cr. The veteran spinner played seven games for the franchise and collected 6 wickets. It was a poor outing for both the player and the franchise. Later, he was released to the auctions and for IPL 2021, Mumbai Indians picked him up. He did not get a lot of games and was later released.
Ahead of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians yet again invested in the cricketer. He was in good touch against RCB in the first game. Hence, it is sure that he will lead the spin attack for the franchise on Saturday, as well. It is important that he does well because Mumbai Indians is currently in poor form.
2) Jason Behrendorff
Jason Behrendorff is one of the former CSK players who might play for Mumbai Indians against CSK. In 2021, Chennai Super Kings signed Jason Behrendorff as the replacement for Josh Hazlewood. However, the left-arm seamer did not get a single game. Even at RCB, the player did not get a match.
That said, he is all set to play against CSK on Saturday. At the moment, since MI is forced to play two overseas seamers, Behrendorff will be a part of the XI. He was in poor form against RCB. However, he is capable of being dangerous in the powerplay and hence, could be backed by the management. If he does not do well, Riley Meredith could get a chance once he is available.
