2 changes New Zealand could make for their next game in 2024 T20 World Cup

New Zealand suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Afghanistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Now, the team must do well in the coming games to ensure that they have a good chance of reaching the next stage. A few changes in the playing XI will be on the cards. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two changes New Zealand could make for their next game in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

1) James Neesham for Michael Bracewell

So far, the pitches have been very helpful for the pace bowlers. On the other hand, right-arm off-spinners are used only when there is a left-hander to tackle at the crease. They are mostly used in case of a matchup. Hence, the Kiwis could consider this change for their next game.

Neesham adds better solidity with the bat. He is also an experienced campaigner. Yes, the Kiwis would fall short of a spinner but Glenn Phillips could fill in for this job. Even Mark Chapman is available if needed. This would add better balance to the side.

2) Tim Southee for Matt Henry

Tim Southee for Matt Henry is one of the changes New Zealand could make for their next game in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Considering his experience in the format, Tim Southee is a must for New Zealand’s next game. Along with Trent Boult, he has the skills to run through the opposition batting line-up in the initial overs.

Southee also has certain variations that can help him in the death overs. If New Zealand needs Matt Henry’s hit-the-deck deliveries, Lockie Ferguson can always provide them. With Southee, at least based on experience and conditions, there is a better threat that the Kiwis can pose with the new ball. Hence, we have this change on this list.
