2 changes Mumbai Indians might do for their next game against CSK

Mumbai Indians suffered a big defeat to RCB in their first game of IPL 2023. The team lacked a solid show, especially with the ball. Next up, MI will face arch-rivals CSK on April 8th at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The management might make a few changes to the playing XI for this encounter. Here, we take a look at two changes Mumbai Indians might do for their next game against CSK.

1) Kumar Kartikeya for Hrithik Shokeen

It was a surprise that Kumar Kartikeya was not a part of the XI for the game against RCB. If not for injury or any other fitness issue, the left-arm spinner should have ideally been in the squad. Nevertheless, if he is fit, he must be a part of the next encounter.

Hrithik Shokeen did not look great with the ball against RCB. With the bat, too, he may not be required unless MI has a big collapse. Therefore, it would be best if Kartikeya gets the opportunity against CSK. Also, if Mumbai really needs right-arm off-spin, they can depend on Tim David to do the job.

2) Sandeep Warrier for Arshad Khan

Sandeep Warrier for Arshad Khan is one of the changes Mumbai Indians might do for their next game against CSK. Arshad Khan definitely showed a lot of signs of potential but for MI, they need some experienced cricketers to deliver instantly. Sandeep has played for India and has good experience at the domestic level.

Sandeep will be most effective in the powerplay. If he can pull off a few good overs at the start, that would free up Jofra Archer to be used at various other phases. Yes, MI would miss out on some batting depth but a few wickets early on in the inning would be more precious, especially when they are working in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.
