2 changes England might make for the next game against Bangladesh in ODI World Cup 2023

England had to face a disappointing defeat in the World Cup opener to New Zealand. The team’s next game will be against Bangladesh in Dharamshala. Here, the ball moves and England must stock their playing XI accordingly. There would be some changes for the match. Here, we take a look at two changes England might make for the next game against Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup 2023.

1) Ben Stokes for Harry Brook

Ben Stokes missed the first game due to a minor hip issue. As expected, Harry Brook replaced him. The youngster did start well but lost his wicket in the search for more runs. He will have to sit out if Ben Stokes is fit to play in this match.

Stokes would be a terrific addition to the squad. The team needs a left-hander in the middle-order. Moeen Ali came up against New Zealand because Stokes was not there. To add better balance to the side, Stokes will be a must in the playing XI.

2) Reece Topley for Mark Wood

Reece Topley for Mark Wood is one of the changes England might make for the next game against Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup 2023. Mark Wood went for 55 runs in 5 overs against the Kiwis. It was a tough outing for the cricketer. While there is still a lot of time for him to work on his game, he could face the axe for the next game.

In Dharamshala, England’s intention must be to break Bangladesh’s top-order within the first few overs. To make that happen, Reece Topley can be an excellent addition. He is someone who can swing the ball consistently and can pick the wickets regularly. Hence, it would be a good strategy to have him take the new ball with Chris Woakes. Sam Curran can come in as the first change.
