2 Changes Australia Should Make For Their Game Against Bangladesh

Although Australia started the tournament on a bright note, they have tapered off a bit in recent games in the T20 World Cup. Especially against England, they suffered a heavy defeat and will now have to fight South Africa for a spot in the semi-finals. The management has already tried out a few changes, but they could make even bolder calls for the next encounter. The upcoming game will be against Bangladesh, which has been a tricky opposition for top teams in recent years. In this article, we take a look at two changes Australia should make for their game against Bangladesh on Thursday in Dubai.

1) Josh Inglis for Matthew Wade

Surprisingly, Australia has persisted with Matthew Wade despite the southpaw’s underwhelming form in recent months. His last memorable outing was the 80 he scored against India last December. Since then, he has not got a fifty, and although he had chances to do well against England, he failed yet again.

Josh Inglis is yet to play for Australia but as per the selectors, he brings to the table a lot of flexibility to the line-up. It is said that he is a good player of spin, as well. He might actually be a decent option to replace Matthew Wade in the XI. Hence, this is one of the changes Australia should make for their game against Bangladesh.

2) Mitchell Marsh for Marcus Stoinis

Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis have both been under par in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Marsh, though, has not looked to be in good touch and was also dropped from the previous encounter. Stoinis offers stability to the batting line-up but with Steve Smith already in the squad, his role seems to be unclear. Of course, the fact that he can offer a few overs of medium-pace does help the captain.

That said, the Aussie bowlers have been decent, and the management could gamble upon bringing in Marsh for Stoinis. When Australia recently toured Bangladesh, Marsh got three 40+ scores. Since the Aussies are up against the same opposition, it could be an option to bring Marsh back.
