2 candidates who confirmed that they will not become India’s next Head Coach

BCCI is currently in the process of appointing the next Head Coach of Team India. There have been many names in the discussion. Some of the popular names include Gautam Gambhir, Stephen Fleming and Mahela Jayawardene amongst others. However, a few have already mentioned that they are not in the race. The race is now narrowed down to just a few names. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two candidates who confirmed that they will not be India’s next Head Coach.

1) Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting confirmed the reports that he was indeed approached for the role of the Head Coach of Team India. However, he said that he would not be applying for the role. He mentioned that the demands of the job would not fit into his lifestyle.

Ponting would have been an excellent appointment for the Indian Team. With his mentality and tactical brilliance, India could have become the strongest side in all three formats of the game. However, now, the BCCI must look at other alternatives. They could probably look at some of his teammates from Australia.

2) Andy Flower

Andy Flower is one of the candidates who confirmed that they will not be India’s next Head Coach. The former Zimbabwe player is one of the best coaches in the game right now. After helping England achieve dominance in white-ball cricket, Andy took up various gigs in leagues across the globe. More often than not, he has been successful with his stints, even accounting for trophies in many cases.

He would have been the perfect fit for the India job. However, he currently has various other assignments, including that of RCB in the IPL. Hence, Andy Flower confirmed that did not apply for the role of the Head Coach of Team India.
