It has been a while since Marnus has been consistent for Australia. He does provide a few solid knocks now and then, but the consistency is missing. He opened in the WTC Final, but it was still a good chance for him to make a mark. There are some bright youngsters waiting for opportunities, and hence, Marnus’ position could be reviewed.
2) Usman Khawaja’s spot is in danger after the WTC Final loss to South Africa
After David Warner’s retirement, Usman had to take more responsibility. However, that did not happen. He has been inconsistent and with the other spot still up for grabs, Australia has been under pressure. His age is close to 40 and therefore, Australia could take a call on him in the coming days.
