WWE has set the stage for the next edition of its PLE, WWE King and Queen of the Ring, emanating from the Jeddah Superdome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 25. The anticipation is building as the event draws near, especially around the bout expected to be the headliner of the show. The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes is scheduled to defend his Undisputed WWE Title against Logan Paul, who is the reigning WWE United States Champion.
While the match currently stands with only Rhodes’ title on the line, the speculations suggest that the match would be reworked into a ‘Title vs Title’ match. If that indeed becomes the case, then it should be Rhodes who walks away with both the gold. Here are two reasons why Rhodes should be called a double champion in Saudi Arabia:
1. Cody Rhodes can be a Grand Slam Champion
Cody Rhodes has been on the path to becoming WWE’s next flagship star ever since he defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. While his career has multiple titles and accolades etched, a major omission in his resume is the title of being a Grand Slam Champion. Cody mentioned the same on the latest edition of SmackDown as well, hinting at the match possibly having both titles on the line.
Therefore, if it goes in that direction, Cody Rhodes becomes the right choice for the victor and becomes a double champion to elevate his status further with the Grand Slam accolade.
2. End of Part-time US Champion
Much like Roman Reigns, Logan Paul has also been a part-time attraction and defended his title only a few times since winning the title last year.
With WWE moving towards full-time champions in the new era, putting the United States title on a star like Cody Rhodes will bring back the prestige and relevance to the same that might have been lost due to the limited appearances of Logan Paul during his reign.
